Permanent Signage!

We have permanent signage!

Back in December of 2021, I reported that The Parish Council was considering supporting the bot and I’m delighted to be able to say that the first its-real-and-you-can-look-at-it-and-touch-it evidence of this support has now manifested itself as permanent signage at both ends of the village.

The signs were designed by the Parish Council and myself – though the overall idea for the design was that of a councillor, I just digitised those ideas, to be fair.

Anyway, we now have two super-cool signs, one each end of the village and close to the 30mph radar signs that most people seem to ignore 😉

A post has been published on the Stanford Rivers Parish Council page, saying this:

Inspired by a local resident who developed the A113 SpeederBot programme (https://a113speederbot.org/), the parish council have agreed to trial the system itself in conjunction with our Community Speedwatch programme.

The data available from the SpeederBot system will enable the Speedwatch group to target the worst times of speeding and also individual worst offenders. Essex police have shown interest in this development and will be invited to attend some of our speedwatch sessions and issue fines on a live basis.

SpeederBot signs have been erected today on the 30mph stretch of London Road in Stanford Rivers, next week our community speedwatch team will be active along with Essex Police.

Anyone willing to volunteer for our community speedwatch please contact councillor Robert Jackson via email melrob.j@talktalk.net

Stanford Rivers Parish Council Facebook page.

This has caused some debate and raised some questions. We try to cover all these in the FAQ page, so do feel free to share that with people.

I’d like to thank the Parish Council and in particular the Community Speedwatch team for their support of the bot – without these people and the hard work that they put into this (and other local issues and projects), the bot and others would be a lot further behind in terms of progress.

So, keep your eyes out for the new signs and also please do consider supporting us – its free!
